Our School

All of our programs are strongly focused on the qualities of each individual. We believe that making learning fun, will lay the foundation students need to fully participate in education and to enable everyone to become lifelong learners. Our school is a learning environment where pupils and teachers learn from and with each other. They learn to take responsibility for themselves and for others.

This way of working stimulates pupils’ problem-solving and analytical skills. Making mistakes is allowed, you learn from making mistakes! When learners are afraid of making mistakes, it results in insecurity, a lack of courage to explore and push your boundaries. To become a responsible adult, a pupil should practice decision-making to experience what consequences are in a safe way. Pupils learn to take initiative and are given space to develop, this prepares them for society. By giving pupils freedom, education becomes the responsibility of the child itself.

Freedom turns pupils into enterprising learners. The freedom a pupil gets at Tumi International School is always freedom within boundaries. Children learn to be considerate of others, to take responsibility for their work and the choices they make. They learn to be accountable for their work and their results. Pupils may, in moderation, choose what they want to learn, in what order they want to do their work, where they want to work, sometimes also what materials they work with and often whether they work alone or together. Our school is a social community where pupils learn through experience. With us, pupils are active themselves and through these activities they gain experience in living, living together, working and learning.

We look at children’s potential and qualities. What you can already do is important. Building on what you can already do
